Disney/Pixar Speedway of the South 36 car set

With Mattel’s recent Red Line Club Sale of this $300 36 Car Speedway of the South set, I couldn’t pass it up! With everyone receiving theirs, a few had cars missing or broken bases. Mine thankfully was perfect! Ready for displaying!

  2. CJG Says:

I just recieved my SOS set from an EBAY auction ($951) and my son and I put it together. I am an avid collector and this set is is perfect and worth every penny.

Good pics bro. thansk for sharing. Hold on to your for a while!
from my emails I was #1-4 buyer to pick my MSOTS
on opening day. One thing I noticed right away is the White
Pin Stripping on the left hand side of the box. This indicates first edition just like the hang card packages.
I consider my self a lucky ones to have got a set in perfect condition. You may think I am crazy but this set will reach
5k mark in the next five years. But keep in mind the aztec
calendar ends in the year 2012

this set is only going for $1200-1500 on ebay. What a bargin. I would have killed to get this for $300 for my kid… she loves Cars, oh well.

  10. Jedicarnut Says:

I was lucky enough to source one of these , It cost me a mind blowing $1400.00. When it arrived it was worth it. The set is so cool and I have one big smile on my face knowing that I am one of the lucky ones.
Bought it for a investment i guess , with the credit crunch and people moving way from shares at present. I really feel that membralia items will go up in value. if you can get one of these sets go for it. It’s a lot of money I know, great investment for the future maybe $5000 in the future. With Cars 2 scheduled for 2011 , these are going to soar in value.

1400 in these times are you MAD. its sad kids who actually wanna play with these cant get em. i have every release up till now for my son and ive been to hell n back to get em. ill never be able to afford this. mattel will get a call from me tomorrow. this is crazy and mattel dont even make 1400 off this.

    • realmz1 Says:

The set got upwards of $1,800. So WTF…which is actually what I was thinking when you said you were going to call Mattel. Are you serious or just mentally ill? What do you think in the REAL WORLD Mattel can do, say, or suggest in pricing items in the aftermarket? If you didn’t get a set…too bad…if you use your kids as a crutch to buy these…too bad…you collect for yourself not your kids. 1 maybe 2 years your kids will be off on another tangent and IF ( A HUGE IF) your kids are deeply into CARS they WON’T be soon.

  12. Lynn Says:

My son is 8 years old, autistic, and totally obsessed with Cars. I missed out on the sale of this set, and with two autistic kids in the house, and limited income, we would never be able to afford this. I think it’s awesome. Within an hour of staring at all of these cars on various websites, my son, who is not even conversationally verbal, knew every number, color and sponsor of each and ever car in this set. It breaks my heart to know that this is the only thing he asks for from Santa, and his wish will not be granted.
    Congratulations on your set.
    I am very jealous.

uh, what can Mattel do? how about MAKE MORE! seriously, they will sell like hotcakes, they would make tons of money… seems like a no-brainer. collectors can still keep them all locked up in air-tight storage bins or whatever they do, and buy/sell them for $1k+, but the rest of us normal people could actually buy a set for our *kids* to *play with* (shocker!)

    • realmz1 Says:

but they are making WAY MORE slinging them to the ones who missed out via more expensive measures (i.e launchers, toys r us promos, mack haulers, overseas promos) The ones who got a $300 set made out. Those that missed the bus will EASILY pay that $1,000 per set without the case/display and without the 2 MAIN exclusives of the set!

  14. Mike Says:

It does suck that the everyday person cannot get this set for thier children who would love to have a set to play with. But i don’t look at the people who were able to get them 300 dollars and sell them for 1400 to 2000 dollars any differently than the people who did get one and let thier kids play with it. I actually enjoy taking my child to the store and search for the ones we don’t have. We go atleast once a week in the town we live in to look for cars. And when we do find one we don’t have we try to buuy two of them. One to play with and one to display still in the package in his room. I look at them as if they were and are toys but at the same time they are like stocks. So don’t hate on people who buy and sell them to make a profit. Because at the same time we as americans all do the same thing with something. Wether it be toys on ebay or our 401k’s through work. We all live in a country which buys low and sells high. As i end my statement congrates on your set and I am jealous that i don’t have one but I’am not gonna hate on you for having one. Again congrates.
