The newest nostalgia releases are popping up in my area following the Hanna Barbera series. I had to hunt a few of them down but finally came across what I needed to complete the sets.
Mattel has let their designers run free on the latest release of cars in the basic line. I have had plenty of items to catch my eye and buy. I look forward to some newer castings from the JDM realm to hopefully pop up. But the DTM steez is a nice change of pace from the consistent barrage of muscle car whoopie.
There have been quite a few nice releases this month so far and I am sure a few more will be bought before the month is over.
It seems Mattel is getting into the blind packaged items with a new “mystery cars” series. These come in a sealed bag with the unknown inside car is the game. I figured out their code and picked out the few cars I was interested in. They also come with a mini mystery car poster.
Our local Wal Mart stores have been trickling in their exclusive Hot Wheels Garage 30 car sets. There are 5 exclusive carded vehicles with this set along with 25 previously released cars ( some of which are also **exclusive** that haven’t been found carded. The carded vehicles include : Silver Ferrari 250 GTO, ’70 Chevy Blazer, ’67 Ford Bronco, ’70 Dodge Power Wagon, and a Volkswagen Drag bus. The uncarded **exclusives** are : Custom ’56 drag beetle, ’67 Camaro yellow with redline tires, Orange Volkswagen Fastback, Red Ferrari 308 GTS Quattrovalvole.
The set is pretty cool with the exception of the paint quality honestly sucks on many of the cars I have inspected. alot of splotchy paint, smears, excessive paint drops. As well as the easy access for the shifty individuals to swap cars in the set and return them to the store like last years set. I can expect to see quite a bit of these swap outs this year I am sure.
These are the cars that stood out to me from the set:
