As the evening grew old I decided to stop by In N Out before I hit the hotel. I got my order in and noticed a lime green ride peeking around the corner of the building that wasn’t there before I got done ordering. As I cruised around the building I saw this 21 window VW micro bus. Jae loved some VW’s from fastbacks to bugs to these buses. I knew right away Jae’s angel was watching. I had to hop out and snap some pictures. Very cool owner and sweet ride. Thanks Jae for the sign! Love you sir!
Following the burial at Resurrection there was a Celebration of life picnic for the friends and family of Jae Bueno. This celebration was not a sad event as this was a time to enjoy the times we had with Jae and in remembrance of him. A friend was lost but we all gained an angel above. Jae no longer hurts and is no longer sick. We all loved him dearly and will miss him greatly. His legacy will live on in his photos, his family, and his nephew Steven, who is knocking out great photos just like him.
Carrying on the tradition of his uncle Jae Bueno is Steven Ortiz
PeeWee the three legged Chihuahua was in attendance.
Jae’s son Julian’s birthday was the day prior.
Jae’s compadres from years past
And with the recent events, we celebrated Julian’s birthday at the park. 10 years old…man the time flies!!!
As this will wrap up the series remembering Jae, I cannot thank all involved in the help of the family during these tough times. Danny D for putting Jae and his family first with the 1962 Chevy build and casket painting as well as support. Joey Hernandez and his family for also for putting Jae and the family first during this tough time. The love and respect from EVERYONE involved was off the charts. Jae has touched so many people and seeing them give it back 10 fold was terrific! I will miss Jae greatly and my heart is still missing him. I know it will be tough for the family these ongoing weeks, months, and years…Jae was a one of the great ones took way to soon. I am humbled by the generosity of Myles Kovacs for gifting me with the plane tickets to come out for Jae’s services. I am appreciative that Steph and the family allowed me to come out and mourn with them as well as shoot photos. And I thank all the friends and families that allowed me into their lives to photograph this sad time. I am truly appreciative. I love you guys and will be in contact more!
It came time for us to say our final goodbyes to Jae before he was laid to rest and set to ride in heaven with the angels. The sadness was overwhelming among the massive group of family, friends, supporters, and admirers of Jae’s contribution to this earth. He had touched so many people in so many different ways and this moment was definitely a grand show of that! The cemetery was LINED and LOCKED DOWN by the mourners for this service.
Mr.Cartoon showed up as well to pay his respects to Jae. This to me was a HUGE sign of respect from another California legend.
The surrounding area was completely full
This was an event that many wanted as a memory of Jae’s last ride into paradise
Danny D, went all out for Jae’s casket.. He painted it to match his 1962 Impala wagon. A beautiful tribute for Jae!
A somber moment as Steph played 2 songs that were meaningful to the family
Attention to detail was seen through many facets, even the Pall Bearers gloves.
This photo I think captures the sadness felt by everyone Jae has touched through his short life. And for me is the best emotion I have ever captured. I wish I didn’t have to capture it but I am in a way glad I was able to.
In leaving the cemetery Jae is in good hands as his father is near him and other family members and friends that also passed to early.
The somberness of the morning set in as I woke up and prepared for Jae’s ceremony mass at St. Louis of France. I got on the road about 8am to get to the location and park. As I pulled up the the church I was in amazement how many people had already gathered for the ceremony that began at 9am. There were low lows posted up and down the street and a large group of the lowrider community car clubs in attendance.
The Lows rolled through in mass, what a beautiful show of respect for Jae!!
The sad time to move Jae’s casket into the church for the ceremony. Danny D did a terrific job painting the casket to match his 1962 Chevy wagon. A respectful resting place for Jae. Jae was surrounded by dear friends and loving family members during this transfer from hearse to church.
The procession was lead by his young son Julian. I very strong young man. He held up very well for a 10 year old.
The service was beautiful with kind words from the pastor. No photos were allowed within the church out of respect for the family. I was honored to have been a part of this service.
My dear friend Jae Bueno lost his fight with stage 4 stomach cancer June 25, 2013. So I had to make sure I got my affairs in order and fly out to pay my respects to my dear friend and his family. Thanks to Myles Kovacs from DUB Publishing I was able to get a flight out ASAP to attend Jae’s services (In which I am extremely thankful and grateful that Myles would do such a HUGE favor for me). I flew into LAX @ 3pm and grabbed my rental and hauled ass to the memorial services by 6pm. I was overwhelmed with sadness as I pulled up to the chapel, but then in awe of the amount of people that cared enough to attend this memorial for Jae. The streets in and around the chapel were completely jammed with car after car after car. The head count for the evening was well over 1,000. Jae had touched sooo many people that this was not such a shock, as he was a one of a kind man and friend.
Danny D JEFE Stated best: “Tonight we said goodbye to a friend, tomorrow we will lay him to rest.”
A lot of the lowrider clubs brought out the best for Jae!
The BOMB CLUB SHOWED MAD LOVE WITH Black Bands around their Placas in honor of Jae.
While visiting the DUB CAR SHOW AND CONCERT in Ocean City, Maryland this past weekend, my friend Myles Kovacs was super kind and laced me with a few pieces from the NEW DUB GARAGE toy line along with some demo’s and information on when they will be hitting stores. These will be a kick ass new flare to the lights and sounds toys on the shelves now. Along with pulsing lights to music, interactive motion, there is a TWIST to the D-JAYZ line. These have a set of turntables on the top of the vehicles that actually scratch the music when you touch the records. Along with the photos I busted out the SONY Bloggie to capture the actual motions these have (don’t mind the fatty little claw in the operations).
We had another GREAT opportunity to attend another DUB Magazine car show and concert courtesy of Myles Kovacs and his team from DUB. As usual this was another GREAT show with over 300 pictures in my camera, 6+ hours spent walking around shooting, and quite a few cool cars I was able to snap pictures of. Thankfully the weather wasn’t as bad as it had been on the east coast the last few weeks with the humidity and heat.
There were so many nice rides with quality paint work but this ride had my full attention
This I think was probably the BEST top to bottom front to back full out chop and cut custom
The OC cops busting people cruising…
This 300 seems to make alot of the east coast shows
A genesis I believe
There seemed to be quite a few JDM VIP rides showing here
MY LOVE Nissan GT-R R35
The EXOTICS were also represented very well!
The big trucks were represented as well
Gisselle and Alma got to meet DEVO from FRIDAY
And ending the trip Myles took a few minutes out from his busy day to chop it up with me and showcase his new DUB GARAGE toy line, some of which he graciously hooked me up with!!SO AWESOME!!!
I HAVE TONS more pictures on my flickr, so feel free to browse it and check out more coverage from the show
The family and I had the opportunity attend the DUB SHOW and visit with Myles Kovaks and crew at the DUB Show in Charlotte , North Carolina. We got some cool shots and thanks to Myles, and early entrance to the show to get some shots before the general public was allowed in! Thank a BUNCH to Myles and the rest of the DUB crew for being A++ hosts and good people!!!
A jam packed venue just about an hour before door opening!
From the inside it I am sure it was well worth the wait!!!
Pretty slick and slammed caddy!!
Gotta love the hot rods at shows!!!!
And a few kick ass old school rides!
Tonka truck anyone?
A lot of Camaro’s to be seen
A little OBSESSION CC LOVE from Georgia
Nice bike parked by the MONSTER BEVERAGE TRUCK
The GREEN HORNET car made an appearance
Now a really cool ride I have been looking forward to catching up with was the DUB x SHAQ FORD MUSTANG. I had the privilege to see the beginning of this project at the DUB SHOP last year and have been anticipating the finishing of it.
Roland Sands Bikes were represented well!
The next BIG thing?
Can you GUESS what car this WAS before the super mods?
There was something about this hummer that stuck with me throughout the show. I don’t know if it was the reptile skin or the bad ass road king painted and wrapped to match the Hummer.
They also had dope little hod rod buckets with video game stations in them to play while at the show.
I liked the paint work on this impala
A dope little delivery van
Outside the weather turned sunny and clear then you see a new trend with taxi’s ballin!
UFC fighter Brian Bowles came out for some signings..
And the newest DUB toy line coming out very soon is the DUB GARAE cars. Here are a few sneaks that were available to see at the show
In support of a good friend of mine in Los Angeles I asked him if I could copy and paste his recent blog about his upcoming collab show. So if anyone out there browses my blog and wants to see some dope photography and chit chat with an A class guy and his wife. Please check this show out! And visit his Blog www.jaebueno.com
When my friend Melloe Won from Brooklyn Projects approached me about collaborating on a event, I agreed to it even before he could finish his pitch. Melloe and I have worked together before so I knew we could produce a sick event and when you add the legendary Brooklyn Projects to the mix who would say no?! We started to plan a few weeks ago and reached out to some great people to help with the event. Sino Tequila will be pouring their excellent Tequila for those of age in attendance and DJ Wrex will be providing the music to add to the event vibe. Clothing brands Labels and Acrylick are also on board with the event. Together we hope the event on 9/25 will be a memorable one for everyone in attendance. There will be a limited edition tee for sale at the event and Brooklyn Projects will be open for business for those of you that want to pick up some new kicks are denim to go with that limited edition tee! This is an all ages event so if the baby sitter cancels on you, bring the kids! I hope to see you on the 25th! Support those that support you! Jae Bueno
