BARRACUDA X MIKE GIANT X REBEL 8 MELROSE

mike giant show barracuda (37)

While visiting my good friends :The Buenos They were nice enough to let me know about the Mike Giant Rebel 8 signing in Melrose at Barracuda. At this signing Mike Giant was doing a LIVE installation piece during the signing. I got there just as he was started and was in TOTAL awe of the artists profound skill to bust such a HUGE installation with just a few POSCA markers. He also did a few other pieces with aerosol cans.

While I was there watching Mike Giant get busy. Jae Bueno and his Wife Steph were floating around snapping pictures covering the show for Jae’s blog ***JaeBueno.com*** I spied a gentleman I have been following pretty close through his blog and his clothing line for awhile ***ESTEVAN ORIOL**** And Jae knows him pretty well so I played the fanboy and asked Jae and Steph to snap a pic of me with him. He was MAD cool to chit chat with and no super star bullshit from him. A real dude!

And after the event was done I was wandering around to see if I could somehow come up on a few Rebel 8 stickers with no luck. As I turn around I see a familiar face and another behind that one. Low and behold it is Paul Wall ****Solo Rapper**Expensive Taste*** And Skin Head Rob***The Transplants**Expensive taste**. Very cool and shocking to see these gents milling around. Once again fanboy took over so i got a few snaps with Jae Bueno behind the camera.

Los Angeles Graffiti Scene

During my stay on the west coast my friend and I happened across a downtown LA legal graffiti wall. The most recent pieces were done by RISK and MR. CARTOON. I had seen in progress pictures of Toons piece and wanted to check it out while I was there. So this stop that was totally unplanned at the moment due to a GPS issue was quite rewarding. My friend and I spent a good hour in the art district shooting many kick ass graffiti walls. It was truly amazing to see what these artists can do with a can of spray paint, artistic vision, and a large canvas to express their vision.

1:50 scale Hot Wheels Custom Scion tC

I passed by these at the local store and was shocked to see Mattel still rocking the 1:50 scale stuff (or as to those in the know midscale pieces). They had quite a few muscle cars bleh, but this Scion tC gleamed out of that crap like a treasure. I quickly nabbed it and brought home to the rest of its prereleased cousins from the Dropstars family. The tC Definitely digs its new home!

Maisto Diecast Enamelized Graffiti Trains

A few years back the toy company Maisto had put out a Graffiti based line of railroad trains called ENAMELIZED “Graffiti train diecast collection”. The Graffiti represented on the sides of these trains were lifted off actual graffiti pieces on train cars done by Arek, Jase, Con, Cense, Cycle, and Smith.

These, at least in my area, were VERY HARD to find at the time of their release. This series for some reason only lasted a release of six graf’d train cars. They were packaged very well, came with a piece of railroad track for display and a colorful art card of the actual train car that the graffiti piece was done on.

And since I have a very deep graffiti background these were an INSTANT love attraction for me! I hunted stores daily trying to catch them on the shelves to no avail. I came across a TON of these the other day at a local discount store and scooped EVERY single one they had. Needless to say I have quite a few sets at the moment. You can NEVER have too many GRAF’d trains rolling around the house!

Enough of my babbling here are the train cars:

Saber”ONE” X Maisto=Graffiti Scion xB’s

World renown graffiti artist SABER has teamed up with the Maisto custom shop to creat a series of Limited Edition 1:24 scale scion xB’s. The three unique cars feature graphic designs by SABER created especially for this project

I grabbed these at a local retailer at a very good clearanced price. I have wanted to get them since they were released to the hobby end of the market but to me the prices were a little high for the product. now seems they went to retail shortly after and stayed at a higher price. And finally they dropped dramatically price wise and I grabbed them up. The designs are pretty dope although the casting isn’t all that great. The head lights are plastic covers as any 1:24 scale is, but the rear lights are tampos(stickers) not lenses, pretty disappointing! But like I mentioned I DIG the Graf inspired design and Saber is a DOPE artist!
